What does raw coconut taste like?
Inside a fresh coconut you will find refreshing coconut water and the raw coconut flesh. The moist flesh of a coconut should be white in colour and have a clean coconut taste with a soft, almost rubbery texture. If your coconut water or coconut flesh have a tart or sour smell or taste, it may be spoiled.
How can I use raw coconut flesh?
Once you’ve learned to crack open your coconut and have consumed the electrolyte-rich coconut water, you’re left with the husk and the rich, creamy coconut flesh. Raw coconut flesh contains many beneficial nutrients including Medium-Chain-Fatty-Acids, Potassium, Iron and Fiber and can be eaten raw or used to make a variety of coconut food products including;
- Raw coconut flesh can be dried and grated to make shredded coconut
- Turn the coconut meat into fresh coconut cream or milk
- Made into coconut flour free from additives and preservatives for cooking or baking
- Or used to create a pure coconut extract.
